Durant to travel with team during upcoming road trip

USA Today Sports

Kevin Durant continues to make progress in his recovery from a Grade 2 MCL sprain and tibial bone bruise.

The Golden State Warriors forward will join the team Sunday on its two-game road trip to Oklahoma City and Dallas, marking the first time he's traveled since the injury, ESPN's Chris Haynes reports.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr doesn't know whether Durant will be on the bench for either contest, but did note that he's been encouraged by the 28-year-old's recovery so far.

"I've watched him today shooting jump shots," Kerr told Haynes on Saturday. "I've watched him go from sitting in a chair shooting, to standstill shooting and now jump-shooting, so he's clearly making progress. It's great."

The eight-time All-Star has been out of the lineup since Feb. 28, and Golden State's gone 4-5 without him.

Durant is averaging 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.1 steals on 53.7 percent shooting in his first season in the Bay Area.
