Cavaliers' Korver could be out a week with foot injury

USA Today Sports

Sharpshooter Kyle Korver of the Cleveland Cavaliers won't be in uniform Saturday against the Orlando Magic, and is expected to miss more games.

The 35-year-old, who underwent an MRI earlier in the week that revealed inflammation in his sore right foot, could be sidelined for a week or possibly longer, he told Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon.

Korver added that it's an injury he's dealt with numerous times before, and that it usually takes a week or so for the inflammation to subside.

He didn't take the floor in Thursday's 106-101 loss to the Detroit Pistons, but is with the team on its three-game road trip, which ends Sunday night at the Toyota Center against the Houston Rockets.

His foot has been an issue for more than a month, with the pain becoming more of an issue since March 1. Korver mentioned how he "could barely move" when the Cavaliers had two games (both losses) against the Miami Heat on March 4 and 6, respectively.

Head coach Tyronn Lue told reporters Saturday that he'll be re-evaluated "in a few days," with no official timeline set for his return.

Cleveland has lost three straight outings, and four of its last five, holding down a 42-21 record atop the Eastern Conference.

Korver is shooting just as well from 3-point range (48.7 percent) as he is from the field (48.8 percent) since joining the Cavaliers, contributing 11.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 25.9 minutes per game in 26 appearances.
