Raptors' Jonas Valanciunas: Double-doubles with 12 boards in loss

Valanciunas recorded 11 points (5-12 FG, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, two blocks, two steals and an assist across 30 minutes in Friday's 105-99 loss to the Hawks.

Analysis:

A sometimes underappreciated model of consistency for the Raptors, Valanciunas quietly recorded his 23rd double-double on Friday, leading both teams with 12 boards in the contest. This was his second double-double in as many games, and though his scoring output and rebounds per game have dipped a bit since the All-Star break, he's drastically improved his shooting, averaging 61.7 from the floor across eight contests as opposed to 53.8 percent prior to the All-Star break. He usually commands a lower price than most centers in DFS formats, and shouldn't be overlooked when looking for value at the position. He'll face up against Hassan Whiteside and the Heat on Saturday. In the sole contest against Miami this season he posted 5 points and snagged a respectable 11 boards.
