Suns' Dudley, Wizards' Jennings fined $35K for altercation
Phoenix Suns forward Jared Dudley and Washington Wizards point guard Brandon Jennings have each been fined $35,000 for their roles in Tuesday's altercation at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Dudley was ejected in the second quarter after taking exception to a hard screen by Jason Smith on Tyler Ulis, escalating the situation by hitting the Wizards big man with a hard chest bump. Jennings was also kicked out after making a gun gesture at Dudley.
Jennings defended his actions following the contest, saying he was only trying to calm Dudley down.
"They said I pointed my finger like a gun at Dudley," Jennings told Candace Buckner of The Washington Post. "I was telling Dudley to relax, like, calm down, because you're not that type of guy. Jason Smith didn't do anything wrong anyway. All he did was set a good pick, so for you to come at a guy like Jason Smith, who's not even a bad guy or don't do things like that - so what are you doing? I was just protecting my teammate."
The Wizards ended up winning the game 131-127.
