Grizzlies coach Fizdale to detractors: 'Kiss my ass'

Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale just unleashed the greatest rant of the season.

Irritated by questions about his lineup decisions, Fizdale dropped a bomb on his critics and vowed to do everything in his power to compete for the title.

"What am I supposed to do, settle for mediocrity and stay in a .500 mode and not do anything and just be a OK with that? That's the problem. The whole image of this group - is that it's been OK, and if we're underdogs and we don't win it, that's OK," Fizdale said.

"No. I won't settle for that. I'll continue to shuffle until I find something that works best to give us the best chance to hold the trophy. If people don't like it, they can kiss my ass."

Frustrations are mounting as the Grizzlies plummet in the standings with a 3-6 stretch over their last nine games. They have dropped results against bottom feeders like the New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets along the way.

In an effort to rejuvenate his squad, Fizdale shuffled the lineup ahead of Monday's inexplicable loss to Brooklyn. He yanked Tony Allen and JaMychal Green from their starting spots in favor of Andrew Harrison and Brandan Wright - curious decisions, given that Allen is a fan favorite while Green was coming off a 20-point performance.

But the end result was that Memphis lost, and hence Fizdale is scrambling. Look for more tinkering until the Grizzlies land on something that works.
