Clippers' Chris Paul: Will play Friday vs. Spurs

Coach Doc Rivers said Paul (thumb) will play in Friday's game against the Spurs, Rowan Kavner of Clippers.com reports.

Analysis:

After a month-long absence due to a torn ligament in his left thumb, Paul was medically cleared to play earlier in the week, but the Clippers opted not to use him Thursday against the Warriors, instead saving him for the second half of the back-to-back set. Though the team hasn't officially announced its starting lineup, Paul should be back on the top unit at point guard, which will likely result in Austin Rivers hitting the bench. Considering that Paul isn't returning from a knee or lower-body injury, it's unlikely that he'll face any strict minutes limitations, so fantasy owners in season-long leagues should feel comfortable activating him right away. Paul has been a top-flight producer when healthy this season, averaging 17.5 points, 9.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals across 30.9 minutes per game.
