Suns' Booker told Tucker he wouldn't be traded - right before he was traded

Devin Booker spoke a little too soon.

Rumors that his Phoenix Suns teammate P.J. Tucker would be shipped away had been swirling all week ahead of the trade deadline, with the Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics among the clubs reportedly interested in Tucker's services.

But as the clock struck 1:00 p.m. MST on Thursday, the veteran swingman was still ostensibly a member of the Suns.

"I told you, you weren't going anywhere," Booker told the veteran, according to Gavin Schall of the Pac-12 Network.

Just 30 seconds later, Tucker found out he'd been traded to the Raptors in a last-minute deal.

And that's the moment the sophomore learned deals can happen right before the deadline, with the reports emerging afterward.
