Kings owner told Hield as Pelican: 'We're still gonna get you'
Vivek Ranadive was hellbent on getting Buddy Hield.
The Sacramento Kings missed out on selecting the former Oklahoma standout in the 2016 draft, where Hield was picked sixth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans.
That wasn't enough to squash Ranadive's dream of acquiring the shooting guard, who he reportedly believes has the potential to be as good as reigning two-time league MVP Stephen Curry.
Hield totaled 19 points on a true shooting percentage of just 43.4 percent over two games against Sacramento this season. Both times, Ranadive - whose affinity for shooters is no secret - indicated he hadn't given up on making him a King.
"We're still gonna get you," the businessman said, as relayed by the 23-year-old to Sean Cunningham of ABC10 Sacramento.
It may have cost the team its franchise player, but mission accomplished.
