Report: Pelicans to work out Chalmers, Cook, Williams, Thompson
The New Orleans Pelicans are set to host a free-agent minicamp of sorts in hopes of finding some guard depth.
Having shipped out Langston Galloway and Tyreke Evans in the highway robbery of the Sacramento Kings for star center DeMarcus Cousins, the Pelicans find themselves in need of some perimeter players.
To that end, the Pelicans will work out Mario Chalmers, Quinn Cook, Reggie Williams and Hollis Thompson this week, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
Chalmers is by far the most accomplished out of the four, although it's unclear what he has left in the tank following Achilles surgery.
The two-time champion formerly of the Miami Heat averaged 10.3 points per game last season splitting time between Miami and Memphis, but he wasn't picked up in the offseason and was passed up by the Cleveland Cavaliers when he attended their guard minicamp earlier this month.
Quinn, Williams, and Thompson all primarily trait as experienced 3-point specialists.
