76ers' Robert Covington: Forced from Wednesday's game with head injury

Covington suffered a head contusion during Wednesday's game against the Celtics and won't return, freelance NBA writer Derek Bodner reports.

Analysis:

Covington suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter, but was still able to turn in quality outing with 18 points (7-12 FG, 4-6 3Pt), nine rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block in 29 minutes. It doesn't sound like Covington is dealing with a concussion, but the 76ers could play it safe and put him through the league-mandated protocol anyway. That said, with the All-Star break now here, Covington will have a full week to recover from the issue, so there appears to be a good chance he'll be healthy in time for the Feb. 24 game against the Wizards.
