76ers' McConnell appears to call out Hornets' Batum after win

"Guarantee that."

That was T.J. McConnell's message after the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 105-99 in their barn Monday night.

"You're not going to overlook us. We're not a guaranteed victory for the other team. If you guarantee stuff, you better back it up," said McConnell, who registered 14 points, seven dimes, and four rebounds in the win.

The apparent shot comes a day after shooting guard Nicolas Batum guaranteed his Hornets will emerge victorious at Spectrum Center.

"We're going to win this game on Monday. We will," he told the Charlotte Observer's Scott Fowler on Sunday.

They didn't, though, falling to the Sixers for the second time in the past month.

"We're a damn good team, and we just gotta keep fighting," McConnell added.

I don't know about "damn good" but Philly has won three straight, and are 13-10 in the new year. Meanwhile, Charlotte has sputtered to a 5-16 record over that span.
