Wade: Miami is still my organization at the end of the day
He may play in the Windy City, but the Miami Heat are still very much a part of Dwyane Wade.
After spending the previous 13 seasons in South Beach, the 35-year-old still has difficulty remembering that he no longer plays for the Heat.
"If say the Heat is playing someone, say, Heat versus Denver, I'm like, dang, we got Denver? It's in my mind. I mean, 13 years," Wade said on The Vertical Podcast with Woj. "And it's not even just me, it's people around me. 'Hey, man, you coming to the city? Uh, no. That's probably the Heat, the Bulls are somewhere else."
While he remains loyal to the Chicago Bulls, Wade still checks in on the Heat on a regular basis, hoping that they continue to find success without him.
"Oh, he still follow the Heat? Yes, I follow the Heat," Wade said. "I check up on them because at the end of the day it's still my organization. It's always going to be my organization in some form, some way because of what I was able to accomplish there."
Wade's last trip to Miami did not go as planned, as he and Jimmy Butler were benched after questioning their teammates' desire to win earlier that week.
