Korver hopes to re-sign with Cavaliers, play 2-3 more seasons

Playing a key role off the bench for the top team in the Eastern Conference and reigning NBA champions is an ideal situation for 35-year-old sharpshooter Kyle Korver, and one he'd like to continue being in next season.

With his four-year contract (which he signed as a member of the Atlanta Hawks) set to expire at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, Korver told Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon that he'd love to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"I mean, who wouldn't want to play with the best players in the world?" Korver said.

Korver, who turns 36 on March 17, added that he envisions himself competing for two-to-three more seasons before calling it a career.

"I know they (Cleveland) will have a lot of decisions to make this summer, with tax implications and things like that, but, yeah," he added.

It was on Wednesday night during the Cavs' 132-117 victory over the Indiana Pacers when Korver moved into seventh place on the NBA's all-time 3-pointers made list, passing Jason Kidd.

His 29 points and eight makes from behind the arc in 26 minutes of action were both season highs. Korver is shooting 48.2 percent from deep in 15 appearances for Cleveland since being traded by Atlanta in exchange for Mike Dunleavy, Mo Williams, cash, and a protected future first rounder.

"Normally if I don't run, I don't get open," Korver said. "I've learned I have to run a lot usually to get open. But it's different here. The players we have here are amazing.

"Nothing gets a shooter open like more shooting and LeBron (James) and Kyrie (Irving)."
