Bulls' Butler to undergo MRI on bruised heel

Things could soon go from bad to worse for the Chicago Bulls should they be without their All-Star small forward for an extended period.

After being a late scratch in Friday night's contest versus the Houston Rockets, Jimmy Butler will undergo an MRI on Saturday to assess the severity of his right heel contusion.

"He went out there, he was having trouble putting pressure on that foot," Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg said following the defeat. "So we decided to play it safe and sit him tonight."

It's not clear how Butler sustained the injury, but he was seen wearing an ice pack on his right foot after Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"We'll see," Hoiberg said. "We'll see how he is tomorrow. Hopefully he makes progress over the next two days and we'll make the determination, probably game-time (decision) before Sacramento (on Monday)."

The 27-year-old is averaging 24.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, while posting a player efficiency rating of 25.7.
