A lull in the schedule allowed Sacramento Kings small forward Matt Barnes to turn himself in to the NYPD.
Barnes surrendered Wednesday and was promptly booked on misdemeanor assault charges, police sources told the New York Post. He is expected to be issued a desk appearance ticket.
The Kings don't play again until Friday, which created a gap for Barnes to fly to New York, where he was allegedly involved in a nightclub brawl on Dec. 5. He is accused of choking a woman while punching another man.
Barnes maintains his innocence but is apparently cooperating with the investigation.
