Report: Cavs to work out Hinrich, Chalmers, Stephenson

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James' wish may just end up coming true.

Following the three-time champion's demands that his team add another playmaker, the Cleveland Cavaliers are scheduled to work out Kirk Hinrich, Mario Chalmers, and Lance Stephenson on Wednesday, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes.

A handful of other free agents are also expected to attend the session.

Should any of the players perform well, it's believed Cleveland will sign one of them prior to the All-Star break. The Cavaliers already have one open roster spot available, and could make room for another by waiving big man Chris Andersen, who's out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Hinrich split time with the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks in 2015-16, averaging three points and 1.6 assists on 38 percent in 46 games.

Chalmers is coming off a decent season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.6 rebounds on 41 percent shooting in his time with the Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies.

Stephenson is the only one of the three to see action this season, averaging 9.7 points, 4.8 assists, and three rebounds in six games for the New Orleans Pelicans.
