Here is a look at the Squad Up daily NBA fantasy picture for Monday, Jan. 23:

Dynamic Duos

  • PG George Hill (60K) & SF Gordon Hayward (67K), Jazz (vs. Thunder): The Jazz have only lost once when both Hill and Hayward have played. Hill has been scoring at a career clip (18.4 PPG) while adding a few rebounds and assists for good measure. Hayward is right there with him, reaching offensive highs to date.
  • SF Giannis Antetokounmpo (104K) & PF Jabari Parker (68K), Bucks (vs. Rockets): Antetokounmpo will cost the farm, but his versatility and the Rockets' fast pace will require him to run and gun with Parker. Expect a lot of points and for them to move the ball around the perimeter. Despite the Bucks' cold stretch, Antetokounmpo has been playing at a high level nightly.
  • PG Kemba Walker (83K) & SG Nicolas Batum (69K), Hornets (vs. Wizards): Your cash-game darlings in Charlotte are set. This is a duo you can almost always set your watch to. Both have high floors and are the primary ball-handlers on offense. Don't be surprised if Walker eclipses 30 points and Batum scatters crooked numbers throughout the stat sheet.

Bargain Plays

  • PF David Lee (25K), Spurs (at Nets): With the injury to PF Pau Gasol, Lee has been the first in line to take advantage. In two games since Gasol was sidelined, Lee has averaged 34.5 minutes and has two double-doubles, with a high of 16 rebounds against the Denver Nuggets. The Nets feature the league's worst defense. Lee is poised to have a big game.
  • C Al Jefferson (25K), Pacers (vs. Knicks): Big Al had back-to-back 20-point games last week before a bit of a dud against the Jazz's top defense. Coming off the bench and playing limited minutes will always keep his production in flux, but the Knicks are bereft of defensive upside. He makes for solid savings if you stack the Bucks' duo.
  • PG Ty Lawson (33K), Kings (at Pistons): The Kings are still establishing their approach following SF Rudy Gay's season-ending injury, but Lawson should be in line for more floor time. He hasn't played fewer than 21 minutes since before January, and he could continue to see his role expand.

Top Fades

  • PF Anthony Davis (105K), Pelicans (vs. Cavaliers): Davis is expected to play, and he's the only reliable performer on the Pelicans roster. His asking price combined with his most recent injury issues and the Cavaliers being his opponent makes him less desirable than normal. His upside is through the roof, but one bump and they're not taking any risks.
  • SG Bradley Beal (63K), Wizards (at Hornets): Beal has seemingly lost the touch from beyond the arc, going a combined 1-for-21 over his last three games. He's still scoring, albeit below his averages, and dishing out some assists. The Hornets feature a top-10 defense, which could cause him fits.
  • SF Paul George (71K), Pacers (vs. Knicks): It seems like the perfect matchup, as the Knicks have been an unmitigated disaster in January. George's scoring has recovered after a bad game overseas, but he's failed to reach the 30-point plateau for seven consecutive games. He's capable, obviously, but he's been oddly inconsistent.

Contrarian Options

  • PF Thaddeus Young (53K), Pacers (vs. Knicks): Cheaper than George, and less overall appealing, Young is a terribly inconsistent scorer. Despite this, he has shown his ability to stuff every other counting stat category. He has 15 steals in his last four games and is usually good for a block and close to 10 rebounds.
  • PG Russell Westbrook (107K), Thunder (at Jazz): Utah's defense is among the best in the league, but it might not be enough to limit the one-man wrecking crew that is Westbrook. While normally the Jazz inspire opposing salaries to drop, that's not the case. Westbrook is one of the few players who is truly matchup-proof. You don't need to overthink it.
