Westbrook notches 18th triple-double in half as many games as last year

USA Today Sports

The Brodie is on quite the roll this season - even by his standards.

Russell Westbrook recorded 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists in Wednesday's 103-95 win over the Memphis Grizzlies for his 18th triple-double, matching his total from last season.

Even more impressive, the Oklahoma City Thunder star needed just 40 games to reach the mark - half the number of contests it took him a year ago.

In his go-around without Kevin Durant, Westbrook is averaging a league-leading 31.2 points to go along with 10.4 assists, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per outing for the Thunder, who are currently tied for the fifth seed in the West.

With 55 career triple-doubles, he's on pace to surpass Larry Bird's 59 for fifth all time well before the campaign ends.
