Raptors' Casey, Rockets' D'Antoni named Coaches of the Month
Dwane Casey of the Toronto Raptors and Mike D'Antoni of the Houston Rockets were named NBA Coaches of the Month for December in the Eastern and Western Conference, respectively.
D'Antoni guided the Rockets to an NBA-best 15-2 record in the final month of 2016, leading the league in point differential (12.9). The master of the fast-paced offense oversaw a team that made an NBA-high 16.4 3-pointers per game during December, paced by Western Conference Player of the Month James Harden.
Casey's Raptors went 10-4 in the month, setting franchise records for largest margin of victory (44 points over the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 3) and consecutive road wins (seven, with the first two coming in November).
Going into Wednesday's action, the Raptors and Rockets are the No. 2 and 3 teams, respectively, this season in offensive rating, and Nos. 3 and 4 in Net Rating, according to NBA Stats.
