6 months after becoming FA, Motiejunas finally signs with Pelicans

It took a while, but Donatas Motiejunas has finally found a home.

More than six months after becoming a free agent, the 7-foot big man appears to have made up his mind, officially signing with the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but sources told ESPN's Marc Stein that the contract will span just one year at the veteran's minimum.

Motiejunas' contract saga has slowly turned into one of the most bizarre stories of the new season. After failing to agree to a deal with the Houston Rockets this summer, Motiejunas signed a four-year, $37-million offer sheet with the Brooklyn Nets in December. Houston would go on to match Brooklyn's offer, but failed to include $6 million in incentive clauses, leading the 26-year-old to skip his mandatory physical. The Rockets eventually pulled their offer to Motiejunas, making him an unrestricted free agent.

While questions remain regarding Motiejunas' health, the former first-rounder is a capable scorer, and could help boost a Pelicans bench that ranks 19th in plus-minus.

The four-year veteran is coming off a down year, averaging 6.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists for the Rockets this past season.
