Durant notches 1st triple-double as Warrior

USA Today Sports

The 2016-17 NBA triple-double club welcomed its 13th member on Friday night in Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant.

The four-time scoring champion notched a triple-double for the first time in his new home and the eighth time in his career, as Golden State dissected the Dallas Mavericks in a 108-99 victory that was only as close as it was due to a garbage-time comeback.

Durant scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field, grabbed 11 boards, and dished out 10 assists in 35 minutes of action.

The feat was locked up midway through the third quarter, when Durant earned his 10th assist, joining ex-Oklahoma City Thunder teammates Russell Westbrook and James Harden as the only players to require only three quarters to pull off a triple-double this season.

Durant only had one triple-double in his final year with the Thunder.

He entered the night averaging 26.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists on 53.8 percent shooting for the Warriors, who are now 29-5 and winners of nine of their last 10.
