The Houston Rockets are keeping a keen eye on the Sacramento Kings' logjam at center.

Kosta Koufos, a reliable backup earning an affordable $8 million this season, has emerged as a prime trade candidate for the Rockets, Marc Stein of ESPN reports, while ESPN's Zach Lowe adds that Houston has been shopping Corey Brewer.

Houston has been scouring the market for bigs ever since starting center Clint Capela suffered a broken leg two weeks ago. The likes of Nene and Montrezl Harrell have kept the Rockets afloat, but the Rockets sorely lack depth in the frontcourt.

Koufos offers much of what Houston needs. The 27-year-old is averaging 5.9 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 57.4 percent from the field in 19.7 minutes per game this season.

The Kings, meanwhile, have a glut at center which often sees DeMarcus Cousins play out of position at power forward. Koufos is taking time from prospects Willie Cauley-Stein, Georgios Papagiannis, and Skal Labissiere, although the crafty veteran is also a better player than those younger bigs.
