Grizzlies' Davis to miss 6-8 weeks with foot injury

Haven't the Memphis Grizzlies dealt with enough on the injury front?

The team announced Thursday that Deyonta Davis is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with a torn plantar fascia.

The rookie suffered the injury on his left foot in Tuesday's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Davis dealt with plantar fasciitis in college when he played for Michigan State before being selected 31st overall in June's draft.

The 20-year-old's knock is just the latest in an injury-riddled campaign so far for the Grizz. Davis joins Brandan Wright, James Ennis, Chandler Parsons, and Mike Conley on the IR list.

The latter three could return to action as early as Friday, after the team waived point guard Toney Douglas, whom it signed under the NBA's hardship exception.

Getting back the trio - including two starters - will be key for Memphis, while the fifth-place club shouldn't really be affected by Davis' absence. He's averaging just 2.2 points and two rebounds in eight minutes per game.
