Jerryd Bayless' debut season in Philadelphia is over before it even really began.

The veteran guard, who played only three games for the 76ers after signing a three-year contract with the team this past summer, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing left wrist surgery.

In a team statement, Sixers president and general manager Bryan Colangelo credited Bayless for "his committed and professional approach in making every effort to avoid this outcome."

Bayless missed the first 13 games of the season recovering from a torn ligament in his wrist, suited up for three straight games in late November, and was then sidelined again following a Nov. 25 loss in which he logged nearly 26 minutes of action.

In parts of nine seasons with Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Boston, Memphis, Toronto, New Orleans, and Portland, the 28-year-old is averaging 8.6 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 21 minutes per game.

Bayless has two years and more than $17.5 million remaining on his contract after this season.
