Lin excels in return, but Nets fall to Rockets

Brad Penner / USA TODAY Sports

A familiar face was back in uniform Monday when the Brooklyn Nets took on the Rockets in Houston.

Nets point guard Jeremy Lin returned from a left hamstring strain that cost him 17 games, and suited up against the team he played two seasons for earlier this decade.

The Nets haven't had much to cheer about this season, so Lin's return qualified as an event:

He came off the bench and played on a minutes restriction, but Lin was superb in his return, scoring 10 points and dishing seven assists while racking up a game-high plus-17 rating.

Unfortunately, his teammates weren't quite as effective, getting outscored by 21 points in the 28 minutes Lin didn't play as they fell 122-118 to the Rockets.

Coming into the game, the Nets had been 11.4 points per 100 possessions worse without Lin on the floor.
