LeBron the only Cavalier using iPad to review footage

LeBron James has a not-so-secret trick up his sleeve - he's studying video on an iPad every time he's on the bench – which is actually almost never.

James is sixth on the NBA leaderboard for minutes played with 36.7, and he's still finding a way to learn more, despite the rather vintage method the Cleveland Cavaliers are using for video.

According to Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon, the Cavs aren't instantly uploading in-game footage to the tablets from behind the bench (they're still doing it in their video room) but James is taking advantage of the new NBA rule by studying whenever he's got the opportunity.

"Just seeing how defenses are playing me, playing us," James said. "Kind of watching and paying attention to the minutes I was in, so at the last three minutes of the first quarter when I come out, I can watch and see from when I was in. Then I go back in for the second, and I get it once again at the six minute mark of the second quarter. Just trying to stay above the curve and see how i can help."

The reason for the slow transition to uploading outside of the video room? Because it's just James who is using the iPad to review plays.

Coach Tyronn Lue doesn't use the technology during games, noting he doesn't have time, and general manager David Griffin said the team would shift video equipment to behind the bench once Lue, his staff and more players are using it.
