Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Carries offense as key players sit out

Gobert tallied 20 points (8-8 FG, 4-7 FT), 17 rebounds, one assist and one block across 35 minutes in Thursday's 106-99 loss to the Warriors.

Analysis:

With four of the Jazz's regular starters (George Hill, Rodney Hood, Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors) all sitting out with injuries, Gobert took on some additional responsibilities on the offensive end, which makes his perfect shooting night against a high-quality defense all the more impressive. Of that group of injured players, only Favors seems bound to miss extensive time, but even when the team is at close to full strength, Gobert should continue to fulfill a prominent role for the Jazz on both ends of the floor. Since mid-November, Gobert is averaging a stellar 13.7 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks in 34.5 minutes per game while hitting 71.3 percent of his field-goal attempts and 70.4 percent of his free throws.
