Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Questionable for Thursday

Gasol is dealing with a right groin injury and is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Analysis:

This is the first we've heard of the injury, and it may simply be a byproduct of overuse, as Gasol logged 46 minutes in Monday's double-overtime win over the Pelicans before suiting up for 34 minutes in Wednesday's win over the 76ers. The Grizzlies' lengthy injury list, which includes co-star Mike Conley (back), has resulted in Gasol taking on more usage and minutes in the last several games, and while he's been phenomenal up to this point, it may not be sustainable for Grizzlies coach David Fizdale to depend some extensively on the historically brittle center. He'll likely receive treatment on the groin throughout the day with the hope that he'll be able to suit up Thursday, but if Gasol ends up sitting out, Zach Randolph, Deyonta Davis and Jarell Martin would be tasked with covering most of his playing time.
