Nuggets' Jameer Nelson: Shines off bench Wednesday

Nelson put up 14 points (7-19 FG, 0-4 3Pt), five rebounds, five assists and two steals across 29 minutes in Wednesday's 116-111 loss to the Nets.

Analysis:

For one of the few times all season, the Nuggets had nearly their entire rotation at their disposal, save for the injured Gary Harris (foot). That made it quite shocking that Nelson was able to put up a season-high 19 shot attempts, though he didn't turn in the most efficient performance. Nelson typically has a more muted role in the Nuggets' attack, but with Emmanuel Mudiay struggling yet again Wednesday and getting benched for much of the second half, the veteran was able to take on most of the minutes at point guard. Mudiay has seen below 25 minutes in three straight contests, and it wouldn't be surprising if Nelson, who is averaging 28.3 minutes per game during that same span, continues to see the floor more often of the two, even if he remains a bench player. Nelson is still worth holding in deeper formats until his playing time begins to trend downward.
