Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for striking Charlotte Hornets center Roy Hibbert in the back of the head on Tuesday, the league announced Thursday.
With the two battling for positioning on a potential rebound under the basket off a Kemba Walker 3-pointer, Drummond proceeded to deliver a straight shot to Hibbert's cranium with his left elbow.
As a result, the 23-year-old was assessed a flagrant-2 foul by the officials and ejected from the festivities roughly midway through the second quarter.
Drummond had a good chuckle over the call as he exited the floor, laughing and clapping as he passed his teammates on the sidelines.
