Draymond: 'No chance' Durant joins Warriors if Thunder beat them

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

No need to dwell on the past, Oklahoma City Thunder fans, but had your team taken one more game in the Western Conference finals, the NBA would look a heck of a lot different this season.

In a strong candidate for the year's most obvious statement, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green acknowledged that Kevin Durant wouldn't be his frontcourt buddy in the Bay Area right now had the Thunder held on to their 3-1 series lead.

"I think, if we lose that series, there's no chance he comes here. So, that was some added incentive as well," Green told Adrian Wojnarowski during a recent appearance on "The Vertical" podcast.

Green went into full-blown recruitment mode last season when it came to swaying the four-time scoring champion to change his address. He even characterized himself as an annoying girlfriend because he called Durant more times than he could remember.

Their bond strengthened in Brazil when the two teamed up as members of the U.S. men's Olympic squad in Rio de Janeiro, capturing gold medals along the way.

The Warriors currently hold the top record in the Association at 14-2, with Durant lighting up opposing teams to the tune of 27.1 points per game and Green doing everything there is to do on a basketball court besides officiate.

Again ... one more win, Oklahoma City. That's all it took.
