Injured Lin records stats on Nets bench

Just because Jeremy Lin can't play, it doesn't mean he can't help his team.

The Brooklyn Nets shooting guard hasn't suited up since Nov. 2 when he suffered a hamstring injury versus the Detroit Pistons, but he's remained involved on the sidelines.

The Harvard graduate, who signed with the Nets over the summer, has been recording offensive-efficiency statistics while on the bench during games.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson, who has a well-documented friendship with the 28-year-old, refers to the practice as "Linology."

"It's beautiful," Atkinson told Scott Cacciola of The New York Times. "It's his way of showing he cares. He asked me if he could do it, and I said, 'Yeah, sure.' And he just does it, and he hands it to me after every game, and then I hand it to - you know, I'm not exactly sure where it goes."

Lin's temporary gig has inspired some pretty good memes:

Brooklyn hopes its starter at the two-spot will ditch the clipboard soon, though, as the club's gone 2-6 in his absence.
