James Harden knew he'd make it big, long before it happened.

The Houston Rockets "points" guard - now a four-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA player, and current contender for league MVP - called his rise to basketball prominence as a pre-teen.

On Wednesday, Harden shared an auspicious note he wrote to his mother as a 12-year-old:

Harden's mother framed the note and brought it with her to each home she's lived in while raising her son and following him on his NBA journey, according to Lee Jenkins of SI.

As for the timing of the tweet, the first colorway for Harden's inaugural signature shoe with Adidas - called "Imma be a star" - dropped Wednesday.

The 27-year-old is averaging a league-high 12.4 assists to go along with 28.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals for the 9-5 Rockets.
