The Chicago Bulls' loss to the Denver Nuggets came down to a clean look at the buzzer.

Trailing by two on their last possession, the Bulls inbounded the ball to a wide-open Isaiah Canaan at the 3-point arc, but his shot drew nothing but air. Denver got the rebound and closed it out.

After the game, Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg tried his best to take blame for the loss against a sub-par opponent.

"I put this on me, I gotta get us a better look at the end of the game," Hoiberg said, according to Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago.

Jimmy Butler, who finished with a game-high 35 points on the night, wouldn't allow Hoiberg to swallow the loss.

"I don’t think it was on him. He put us in a great position to win the game. At times we didn’t do what we were supposed to do," he said.

"He wasn’t the one out there that gave up the lead. He wasn’t the one turning over the ball," Butler added.

Canaan got a clean look, but he was ice cold all game, having played sparingly while missing all but one of his six field-goal attempts on the night.

But that wasn't the plan, anyway. Hoiberg explained that the first option was for the red-hot Butler to attack the basket, and failing that, to entrust Dwyane Wade with the shot. Credit the Nuggets for taking away their preferred options, but as Butler pointed out, the Bulls still got an open look.
