When Kristaps Porzingis gets clicking alongside Carmelo Anthony, the result is usually positive for the New York Knicks. Porzingis scored a career-high 35 points Wednesday in New York's 105-102 win over the Detroit Pistons, the second game in a row that he and Anthony both poured in more than 20 and the Knicks won.

Porzingis' tally was also the highest by a Knicks player 21 or younger since Carl Braun in 1947, according to Elias Sports and ESPN.

Porzingis scored 25 of his 35 in the first half and added seven rebounds. Playing both power forward and center, he heard "MVP" chants from the Madison Square Garden crowd.

Anthony was second fiddle in more ways than one. His 22 points were second to Porzingis, but he also took postgame questions before the sophomore star - a notable departure from the usual media pecking order.

"Too early," Porzingis replied to questions about the MVP chant, according to Newsday's Al Iannazzone.

Porzingis and Anthony were a combined 7-for-13 from beyond the arc. The rest of the team was 2-of-12.
