Williams, Barea knocked out of Mavs' loss to Celtics
The Dallas Mavericks seem to be dropping like flies.
Point guards Deron Williams and J.J. Barea both left Wednesday's 90-83 loss to the Boston Celtics and did not return. For Williams, it was his first game since Nov. 4 due to a left calf strain, but he only lasted 10 minutes before the issue flared up again and he left the contest.
His backup Barea then went down in the fourth quarter with a non-contact injury. He had to be helped to the locker room while favoring his right leg, evoking concerns of a serious issue. However, the team later diagnosed him with a left calf strain as well.
The Mavs were already missing another point guard in Devin Harris, as well as franchise veteran Dirk Nowitkzki.
If Williams and Barea remain out for an extended period, Seth Curry will see more action. The younger brother of Steph logged more than 30 minutes Wednesday, marking the first time in his NBA career he has done so in four straight games.
