Mavericks' Deron Williams: Expected to play Wednesday

Williams (calf) said after morning shootaround that he expects to "give it a go" Wednesday against the Celtics, Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

Williams has been held out of the last four games with a strained left calf, but after making it through portions of Tuesday's practice and Wednesday's shootaround without incident, it appears as though he's ready to return to action. Assuming Williams is cleared to play following pregame warmups, he'll presumably reenter the starting five and push J.J. Barea back to a bench role, though Williams could see his playing time limited. On the season, Williams is averaging 15.0 points, 5.8 assists, 2.4 three-pointers and 2.2 rebounds in 35.4 minutes per game.
