Favors forced from another game with recurring knee soreness

For the second time in as many games, Derrick Favors was forced to be a spectator down the stretch for the Utah Jazz.

After Favors' troublesome left knee limited him to six minutes in Saturday's win over Miami, Utah's starting power forward logged 21 minutes Monday against the Grizzlies, being held out of a tight fourth quarter that ended up going Memphis' way.

Head coach Quin Snyder said after Monday's loss that he's unsure whether Favors will need to be shut down for a more extended period, as reported by ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

"We want to make sure that we're not doing anything to provoke or irritate his knee," Snyder said. "But at the same time, he's been able to play. It's something we just have to monitor."

Favors was originally listed as questionable to even play against the Grizzlies, as the knee soreness that limited him to one preseason game and kept him out of Utah's season opener reared its ugly head again.

While the Jazz have overcome a slew of early season injuries en route to a 7-5 start, it's been quite evident that Favors isn't his usual self. The 25-year-old big man is averaging 10.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in just over 22 minutes per game through 11 contests.
