Cousins takes Blazers to OT with 5 points in final 30 seconds

Logan Bowles / USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Trail Blazers appeared to have a win wrapped up with a bow Friday night, leading the Sacramento Kings by five points, with possession, and under a minute to play.

DeMarcus Cousins had other plans.

After Damian Lillard missed a layup, the Kings went the other way, and Cousins drilled a 3-ball in transition. Twenty seconds later, he bulldozed his way into the paint, absorbed contact with four Blazers draped all over him, and muscled up a mini-hook that found its way through the hoop.

The Blazers would go on to win regardless, but they had to sweat out a 122-120 overtime decision, in which Cousins had a look at a potential go-ahead three in the dying seconds.

He finished with 33 points, nine rebounds, three assists, a steal, and two blocks.
