Nets' Brook Lopez: Leads with double-double in win

Lopez scored 34 points (12-21 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 6-9 FT) and added 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 29 minutes during Wednesday's 109-101 win over the Pistons.

Analysis:

Lopez still hasn't cleared 30 minutes in a game this season, but coach Kenny Atkinson unleashed the center a little bit Wednesday, and Lopez didn't disappoint. The big man's production from downtown was especially illuminating, given that he hadn't hit more than one three-pointer in a game in his entire career. It's a facet of his offensive repertoire that he's looked to expand since the preseason, so we could see Lopez develop into something of an asset in that area as the season progresses. Even so, Atkinson has stated that he plans to manage Lopez's minutes carefully, so despite the encouraging output Wednesday, there will still be plenty of nights where Lopez barely exceeds 20 minutes and struggles to hit double figures in the scoring column.
