Nuggets' Emmanuel Mudiay: Struggles with turnovers, shooting in loss

Mudiay (ankle) delivered 11 points (2-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 7-8 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal across 28 minutes in Wednesday's 107-102 win over the Pelicans.

Analysis:

Turnovers and poor shooting marred Mudiay's debut season, and they were unfortunately on display again in Wednesday's opener, with the 20-year-old giving the ball away six times and missing six of his eight shot attempts. On a more positive note, the 7-for-8 mark from the free-throw line qualified as an improvement for a player who shot 67 percent from the charity stripe as a rookie, and the high rebound total showcased the multi-category upside he possesses. Mudiay will likely deliver a lot of good and bad in his statistical profile most nights, and still remains best utilized in points leagues, where his shooting woes aren't put under as much of a microscope.
