Grizzlies' Chandler Parsons: Ruled out for season opener

Parsons (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's season opener against the Timberwolves, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.

Analysis:

After being sidelined or limited in practices for all of training camp, Parsons resumed full-contact work a few days ago, but still needs further time off to regain conditioning. The Grizzlies are likely just acting cautious with Parsons, who hasn't endured any setbacks with his surgically-repaired right knee since joining full-contact practices. The 28-year-old should have his knee evaluated later in the week, at which point he could be considered an option for the Grizzlies' following game Saturday against the Knicks. The Grizzlies have yet to name a starter at small forward in his absence, but the most likely candidates would be either James Ennis or rookie Tory Williams.
