Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis: Option picked up for 2017-18

The Knicks picked up Porzingis' option for the 2017-18 season Tuesday, Ian Begley of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

The decision was a no-brainer for the Knicks after Porzingis finished second in the Rookie of the Year balloting last season. It's hard to envision a scenario where the Knicks wouldn't exercise their option for the fourth and final year of Porzingis' rookie-scale contract at this time next year before the big man becomes a restricted free agent in the summer of 2019.
