Lakers' Jose Calderon: Ruled out for Friday
Calderon (calf) has been ruled out for Friday's preseason finale versus the Suns, Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
Analysis:
Calderon will be sidelined for a third straight game to conclude the preseason, and though it's not believed to be a major issue, it could impact his standing on the depth chart when the regular season opens Oct. 26. Even when healthy, the 35-year-old had been feeling some pressure from Marcelo Huertas for the top backup role at point guard behind starter D'Angelo Russell. If Calderon still remains limited by the time the opener arrives, coach Luke Walton may just opt to play it safe with Calderon and keep him out of the rotation for a little while.
