Heat's Hassan Whiteside: Status uncertain for Thursday

Whiteside's (personal) availability for Thursday's preseason game against the Hornets remains up in the air, Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis:

Whiteside is dealing with a death in the family and the Heat's coaching brass is not going to force him back for what is essentially a meaningless game. He'll get all the time he needs to grieve with friends and family, but Whiteside isn't considered to be in danger of missing any regular season action.
