Cavaliers' Iman Shumpert: Slides into backup role in Smith's debut
Shumpert came off the bench and produced four points (2-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal across 23 minutes in Tuesday's 96-91 preseason loss to the Wizards.
Analysis:
Shumpert had been working as the Cavs' starting shooting guard for most of the season while J.R. Smith remained a free agent, but after Smith inked a four-year deal with the club Friday, Shumpert will settle back into a lower-minute role off the bench. As a defense-first player who averaged just 5.8 points per game last season, Shumpert won't provide much fantasy value as a member of the second unit.
