Clippers' Chris Paul: Suffers sprained thumb

Paul sat out practice Sunday with a sprained left thumb and is expected to play in just one of the Clippers' final two preseason games, Rowan Kavner of Clippers.com reports.

Analysis:

Paul apparently picked up the injury during Saturday's practice, and it looks like the Clippers will act cautiously by holding him out either Monday against the Jazz or Tuesday against the Kings. While the team could ultimately opt to sideline Paul for both contests as a precaution, the fact that coach Doc Rivers is entertaining the idea of playing the point guard at all this week suggests the injury isn't anything too serious.
