Ty Lawson's tenure with the Sacramento Kings is off to a rocky start.

The team has demanded the embattled point guard meet with officials to explain why he didn't join his teammates on a recent trip, league sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

Lawson, 28, missed the Kings' flight to Kentucky, where they hosted a preseason contest against the Washington Wizards on Saturday.

Sacramento listed the eight-year vet as out due to "personal reasons."

Lawson inked a one-year, make-good deal with the club over the offseason.

He was slated to start for at least the first eight games of 2016-17 while Darren Collison serves a suspension, but that's come into question.

Lawson also showed up late to shootaround in Las Vegas earlier last week.

He's been arrested four times for driving under the influence, most recently in July 2015. That arrest came with a three-game suspension from the league, and he was ordered to spend a month in a rehabilitation center.
