Pacers' Myles Turner: Carves up Magic in preseason loss

Turner turned in a team-leading 17 points (7-15 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-4 FT) and added six rebounds, three blocks one assist and one steal across 32 minutes in Friday's 114-106 preseason loss to the Magic.

Analysis:

The Pacers treated Friday's exhibition like a regular-season contest, as all five starters saw 30-plus minutes. That made it all the more surprising that Turner outpaced superstar Paul George in both points and shot attempts, while also making an impact in the defensive categories. It shouldn't be taken as evidence that Turner will frequently be the alpha dog in the Pacers' attack, but it nonetheless illustrates that the team will do everything it can to get the promising second-year big man involved in the offense. After a strong finish to his rookie season, Turner could be poised to take a major leap in production in 2016-17.
