Kevin Durant's decision to join the Golden State Warriors sent shock waves through the basketball world, but at least one person saw it coming.

Andrew Bogut, who spent the last four years with the Warriors, was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in order to accommodate Durant's signing from a financial standpoint.

The 31-year-old center believes Golden State knew well ahead of free agency that it was going to land the megastar.

"That's part of the business," he told Tim MacMahon of ESPN. "I think the deal was done long before the summer. I think it was done - obviously, KD didn't make his concrete decision, but I think our organization knew for a while what was going to happen. That's just a part of it."

Bogut understood that in order to free up the cap space for Durant's two-year, $54.3-million contract, the Warriors would have to sacrifice existing members of the roster - and there was a good chance he'd be on the way out.

"Andre (Iguodala) and I knew it was one of us that was going to go, and it was me," the Aussie said. "That's part of the business. I have no gripes about it. You get a Hall of Famer - he's going to be a Hall of Famer - in K.D. If I'm the GM, I do the same deal. That's just the reality of the business."

Bogut averaged 5.4 points, seven rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.6 blocks over 70 games last season for the 73-9 Warriors. He last suited up for them in Game 5 of the Finals, which he was forced out of after suffering a knee injury.
